DLEAG OPERATIVES RECOVER SUSPECTED PROHIBITED DRUGS FROM PLASTIC BUCKETS FILLED WITH GROUNDNUT PASTE

As operatives across the country heightened their surveillance and monitoring mechanisms, DLEAG operatives stationed in the Lower River Region (LRR) arrested another drug trafficker with suspected cannabis sativa concealed in plastic buckets containing groundnut paste. The burst sequels the discovery of suspected prohibited drugs concealed amongst bags of onions by DLEAG operatives stationed in Sibanor, WCR. This arrest and similar other recent landmark seizures including the seizure of kush happened at the heels of a special operation aimed at distrusting the supply and trafficking of prohibited and controlled drugs.

In order to strengthen and reinforce this ongoing special operations, we reiterate our call for the public to remain vigilant, alert and share information concerning suspicious drug related or criminal activities with law enforcement operatives. The sophisticated and constantly changing concealment methods employed by traffickers is very difficult to detect without information, intelligence, narcotic detecting gadgets and or special skills and thorough search used by operatives. Therefore, we must all remain alert and be willing to participate and contribute our quote towards our collective safety and security.

20 years old Yusupha Jammeh who is involved in this particular case was clutched at Jenoi checkpoint in the Lower River Region (LRR) on the 29 July 2022 around 10:30 hours GMT onwards with fifteen (15) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in four (4) plastic buckets containing groundnut paste. The suspect is a Gambian National and a resident of Brikama Gidda. He was onboard a commercial vehicle (taxi) heading towards Farafenni from Jarra Soma and the said suspected cannabis sativa were wrapped with brown papers, concealed in plastic bags and they were hidden in four separate plastic buckets containing groundnut paste.

In a separate but similar development, a notorious local drug dealer who has been apprehended on several occasions by our local field office in Soma was arrested again on the 29 July 2022 around 11:00 hours GMT onwards with two (2) big bundles and nine (19) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa. 35 years old Lamin Saidyleigh who has pending cases with the Agency and had been incarcerated in the the past on drug related offenses was arrested by the operatives at his residence in Soma Darusalam.

Both suspect are in custody as operatives further probe into their matters
